The Depot was moved from its original location on North Nottowa Street and is now home to a very well-done museum packed full of local history and artifacts. One of the things we enjoyed most about the museum are the video displays created by Mike Mort (Equity Studios). These exceptionally well-done displays create an interactive experience for anyone visiting the museum.
Currently the museum is open on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Visitors are greeted just inside the door by volunteers who are happy to guide guests through the display. We especially liked the interactive displays featuring historical figures from Sturgis' past.
A lot of love and care has gone into filling the small museum with local artifacts documenting everything from original Native American peoples up to modern times. This is a great place to stop for both railfans and history buffs and well worth taking the time to visit.
A donation of $1 is requested of visitors.
